Inaugural Thurrock SEND Awards

We are incredibly proud to share that Chloe was named runner-up in the Success Beyond School category at the Inaugural Thurrock SEND Awards, held on Friday 27th June 2025.

The event brought together children and young people from across Thurrock to recognise the achievements of those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Chloe’s recognition is a fantastic reflection of her resilience, creativity, and commitment—and a moment of great pride for our whole school community.

A Trust-Wide Celebration

Chloe was joined at the event by pupils from across our Trust, including those from Thameside Primary School, Stanford-le-Hope Primary School, East Tilbury Primary School and St Cleres Secondary school. All students represented their schools with pride and enthusiasm, showcasing the spirit of inclusivity and excellence that runs throughout the Trust.

The evening was filled with powerful stories, proud moments, and well-deserved recognition for children who go above and beyond every day. Chloe’s runner-up award highlights the values the SEND Awards aim to celebrate—determination, progress, and achievement in the face of challenges.

What Are the SEND Awards?

Launched by Thurrock Council, the SEND Awards celebrate the achievements of young people aged 0–25 with SEND. Categories included:

  • Student of the Year
  • Overcoming Adversity
  • Little Achievers (EYFS)
  • Success Beyond School
  • Star Supporter
  • Preparing for Adulthood
  • Rising Star in Alternative Provision

The EHCP Coordinators carefully reviewed all 94 nominations and shortlisted 42 outstanding entries. From there, the Senior Leadership Team, including the Director of Children’s Services, selected the final 20 nominees who attended the ceremony.

This rigorous process ensured that each finalist truly represented the spirit of the SEND Awards—celebrating courage, progress, and the power of support.

Cllr Vikki Hartstean, Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, shared:

“These inspiring individuals show incredible strength, resilience, and determination in everything they do.”

We are so proud of Chloe and all the children who took part in this landmark event. Your stories and successes inspire everyone around you, and we look forward to seeing even more of our young people recognised in future celebrations.
